FDA Launches a New Website to Make Information about the Work of FDA’s Program Offices Available
Today, FDA launched a new website that will help the public understand the breadth of FDA's core responsibilities to promote and protect the public health. The website is called FDA-TRACK: Agency-wide Program Performance. FDA-TRACK is FDA's new agency-wide performance management and accountability tool.
The FDA-TRACK website will allow you to gain insights about:
- Each of our program offices and what they do
- Each program office's key performance goals and projects
On a quarterly basis, each FDA program office will submit monthly performance data and present that information to FDA senior leadership. This information will be posted on the FDA-TRACK website and the public can track this information and monitor the accomplishments and trends for each key program area.
Visit the FDA-TRACK website resource at http://www.fda.gov/fdatrack and let us know what you think. You can suggest changes and let us know if you found the information to be useful by emailing FDATRACK@fda.hhs.gov. Feedback you provide may be used to improve the program.

I don’t fully understand how this will help the average american as when I tried to go to the site it was clutter with unhelpful information and I could tell was run by the Gov’t. Nothing against them it’s just that nowadays their are so many links and forums and pages it’s getting really hard to find the simple answers you need. I don’t know what to do any more.

I don’t agree with first comment. I did find information that really helped me .
I agree with the first comment. There are so many links available, how would a person be able to find new information that’s posted? If you’re looking for specific information from a center, then you can navigate your way there. But what if you just want to keep track of all the new information that’s posted all the time, where would you find that and how many links would you have to click in order to do so?

I agree with the first comment however, organizational improvements can be made.
Thank you for your feedback. FDA-TRACK is a new approach to performance management and we are constantly looking for ways to improve it. We’re glad to hear that the information is helpful to some. Of course, FDA-TRACK can’t answer all questions. If you have a specific question, please consider sending it to the FDA-TRACK feedback mailbox, FDATRACK@fda.hhs.gov.
Regarding how to keep up with changes, FDA considered how to address notifications about when information is updated on FDA-TRACK. With over 100 offices submitting information on a constant basis to different pages within the site, we decided that an automatic notification was not practical at this time. Instead, we have provided a ‘Quarterly Briefing Schedule’ page http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/WhatWeDo/track/ucm202109.htm that indicates the general timeline for updates. Approximately 2 to 3 weeks after each briefing, we will be posting the results for the offices from the respective briefing. You can tell how recently the performance information was updated by looking at the note at the top of each dashboard indicating the information is current as of a specific cutoff date. We hope this helps in keeping up with the changes.
Thanks again for your feedback.
A little cluttered but full of useful information. For those who are struggling with navigating the site perhaps they should have a little more patience as not everything can be presented in a format for school children. As adults we should surely be able to navigate a resource like this, much like a reference book may take some time to digest!
What a helpful post really will be coming back to this time and time again http://www.hayda.net/ Thanks ..
It’s filled with a lot of information. Thanks for this, I think this is going in the right direction!

it is a good move since majority of people use the internet for relaying information

I don’t fully understand how this will help the average american as when I tried to go to the site it contains ..unhelpful information and I could tell was run by the Govt….
Transparency is definitely a good start.
However, saying “we have all of this stuff online” … but it’s online in a way that most people can’t find it doesn’t help.
Without investments in decent search technologies to make FINDING anything, the whole “transparency” thing is little more than a ruse.
It’s like pointing to a warehouse filled to the rafters with a bunch of documents and saying, “anything you might want to find is somewhere in there.”
Even if you give a navigation list of where to find what kinds of information, you still have to wade through the piles.
Not only that, but you could possibly even leverage one of the major search providers who will index and provide search functionality FOR YOU without needing to invest anything more than a simple robot.txt file that tells the search spider where to look to do its job.
In summary:
1) You are definitely going in the right direction. No question and even what you’ve done so far is to be commended.
2) Please provide some type of decent search facility, even if it’s to leverage one of the major commercial search engines.
YES indeed Transparency is a overall symptom of the system. It has to be there for a good system to prevail.
It’s always an advantage to have a centralized information especially coming from the government, but then transparency must prevail.
The layout is definitely amazing… You know how to balance writing and opinion. However, I cant get over how little you actually bring to light here. I think that everyones said the same thing that youve said over and over again. Dont you think its time for something a bit new mate, especially for a college site…?
I want to be safe as much as the next guy. But after looking at the site mentioned I can’t help but wonder how many people work at the FDA.
“Each of our program offices and what they do”
“Each program office’s key performance goals and projects”
Gee Whizzzz Do we need all this?
(OK, I’m just a regular guy who looked up a random email and link to for this post. But I’m serious about the question. Not to be negative but is this really efficient?)
A website is good if its properly managed and updated regularly. in the case of the newly launched website, they should put infos that can help people and provide avenue to information.
Thank you for provide this information about the FDA-TRACK website. It’s make me understand clearly.
I am really enjoying reading your well written articles. It looks like you spend a lot of effort and time on your blog. I have bookmarked it and I am looking forward to reading new articles. Keep up the good work it
Hey, your post truly helps, now i encounter the same troubles, and i have no idea on how to solve the issue. Thank god I search Bing and discovered your post; it helps me get rid of my trouble. Thanks once again one thing, can i paste your entry on my site? i will add the source and credit to your site. regards!
I just visited the FDA Track website. In my opinion it is a clean website with lots of useful information, however when I went to other pages by clicking on links at the top of the page, I wasn’t able to find my way back to the FDA Track page. It would be nice to have a link back to the FDA Track on other pages, for the ease of navigation.
By committing to open, accountable, performance-improving government, FDA-TRACK is moving towards what modern government should look like.
Kudos!
oohhh so good love it.
The FDA-TRACK seems a great tool. I hope it will improve the understanding that consumers have about FDA’s activities!
Hi, i feel that i saw you visited my blog thus i came to go
