New Transparency Report Focuses on Enforcement Data
Today, FDA is releasing 8 new draft proposals in a report entitled “Food and Drug Administration Transparency Initiative: Draft Proposals for Public Comment to Increase Transparency By Promoting Greater Access to the Agency’s Compliance and Enforcement Data.”
These draft proposals are focused on making FDA’s compliance and enforcement data more accessible and user-friendly, and they are part of our ongoing efforts to increase the transparency of FDA’s operations and decision-making.
In developing these draft proposals, FDA met with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Labor (DOL), both of which have well-developed and well-regarded enforcement data websites (www.epa-echo.gov and http://ogesdw.dol.gov, respectively). At these meetings, EPA and DOL shared their insights to help us learn from, and build upon, their experiences. Like FDA, EPA and DOL recognize that transparency can drive good behavior and promote regulatory compliance.
We invite the public to comment on FDA’s draft proposals, and to review the Agency’s progress in implementing other action items and draft proposals related to the Transparency Initiative at:

Thank you for letting us know more about the agency and its activities. Transparency is great in government activities, and I’m glad you, who are responsible for our health, take it seriously.

I am all for increasing the transparency and the work with local people who are involved in our food and medicines. The need is clearly there and I hope these proposals, as well as, those that follow will accomplish the task.
I think this is a very good start, and I would like to see this fully implemented as well as other agency’s following suit. I think if you ask around you will find that many people who are really health conscious and not wedded to the medical model of big Pharma have a huge issue of trust concerning the FDA and believe that the FDA is fueled by big money and big Pharma.
May we hope that FDA will follow EPA and apply the Linked Data principles to enhance transparency by also making data more machine-friendly? See this presentation by David G. Smith at EPA http://www.slideshare.net/DruidSmith/linked-data-w3c-20110629 Of interest is also the Government Linked Data (GLD) Working Group http://www.w3.org/2011/gld/
The need for increased transparency is apparent. It is my sincerest hope that the new proposals will allow the public greater access to information concerning food and medicine and make the system more user friendly than it has been in the past.
Any proposal to make data more accessible and user-friendly, has to be a good thing.

Hi There Fdatransparencyblog,
Along the same lines,, Dependent on the State in which you reside, serious estate law is completely different. In Arizona for example, Title Providers take part in a genuine estate transaction. In Ohio, and even Canada, the true residence transaction is serviced by an Lawyer. The Title Supplier or Legal professional act as a “neutral” or “third-party” to the customer or seller. Beneath are the most traditionally chosen Title and Escrow conditions applied in a authentic estate transaction.
